The Bachelor Breaks the Guinness World Record for the Longest Kiss Whilst Climbing the Sydney Harbo
On August 12th 2015, Australia watched with baited breath as Season 3 Bachelor, Sam Wood and his date, wedding planner Nina, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest on-screen kiss at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The couple’s first kiss was officially verified at 4 minutes 10 seconds by a Guinness World Record adjudicator. This unbroken public display of affection (PDA) superseded the previous record, 3 minutes 48 seconds, by 22 seconds.
The challenge was issued to the unsuspecting couple by the show’s host Osher Gunsberg, who surprised the pair as they reached the Bridge summit, and was accepted without hesitation.
Healthy living advocate Osher, skilfully ran commentary spurring them on throughout the endurance test, which outlasted the time it takes to hard-boil an egg.
Before the big moment, with the iconic Bridge offering the perfect setting for a unique date, Sam and Nina enjoyed a romantic journey travelling across steel catwalks and ascending the famous arch, reaching the highest point of the Bridge; 134 meters above the sparkling harbour, just as the sun was setting.
The Bachelor was charming and attentive to his date throughout, who joked about their ‘His and Hers matching onesies’; the ultimate set of couples clothes.
