Barbershop Quartet Surprise Valentine’s Day Proposals Atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge
On Sunday 14th February, the first ever Barbershop Quartet to perform atop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge surprised Dawn Climb groups and serenaded two successful proposal, in the ultimate Valentine’s Day surprise.
The unsuspecting climbers ascended the iconic Bridge, hearts already aflutter as they enjoyed a stunning vista of the sun rising behind a silhouetted Opera House, across a serene, sparking harbour.
When they reached the summit, 134 meters high, four performers from Sydney Harmony tuned up with a carefully attached pitch whistle, and serenaded the Climbers with sky-high renditions of Joe Cocker’s "You Are So Beautiful ", The Turtles’ "Happy Together" and Queen’s "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
Paul Ellis from Nottingham, UK, was one of two who declared their love to their partners that morning. He got down on one knee for his girlfriend of four years, Stephanie Cross well from Nottingham, UK. Stephanie said, “Perfect end to a perfect holiday on the most romantic day of the year”.
Karen Livingston from Hunterview, Singleton, took advantage of the leap year tradition and proposed to her partner of 18 months Andrew Egan. Andrew said, “The most romantic spot ever to be engaged”.
The top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the world’s most romantic locations and has seen more than 5,000 engagements, countless anniversary celebrations and 27 weddings.
