Yogis take over the Sydney Harbour Bridge at dawn for World Yoga Day
As the sun rose on the horizon, a group of 12 yogis welcomed the dawn of World Yoga Day for 2016. Two yoga teachers led a series of traditional asanas 134 metres above the sun-kissed harbour, as the Opera House silhouetted behind them.
As the winter skies shined an array of orange, yellow and pink, the yogis saluted the sun, kicking off a relay of sister events around the world today. This year we celebrated the second official World Yoga Day, following last year’s event at Bondi Beach.
You can get involved in other community yoga events to mark today’s celebration- join in on the steps of the Opera House, in Parramatta, or in Martin Place. Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane are also participating in Australia’s celebrations. Head here to find out more about these events on the official World Yoga Day site.
Namaste Sydney.
