AFL Kids Takeover the Top
Led by AFL Heroes Kieren Jack, Co-Captian of the Sydney Swans, and Dylan Addison, Midfielder for the GWS Giants, 550 aspiring AFL champions climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge en masse this morning.
Kids from all over Australia have descended upon Sydney for the National AFL School Champsionships this week. For many of today's adventurers, visiting Sydney is the first time they've traveled outside their home state. To include a visit to the top of a Sydney icon on a picture-perfect winter's day with two of their heroes is a real treat.
Celebrating its 125th anniversary in Sydney this year, this event has seen over 1,000 students from previous Championships going on to play AFL/VFL at the highest level including 'Buddy' Franklin, Joel Selwood, Nic Naitanui, Dylan Addison and Kieren Jack.
Under cobalt-coloured skies, today 22 teams of Under 12 and Under 15 boys, and Under 16 girls from each state ascended the arches of Sydney's famous Bridge, 134m above famous Sydney Harbour, for a climb experience we hope will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
